  • WHAT DO WE TEACH AT KINGS ACADEMY?

At Kings Academy we have broad range of Martial Arts to choose from. We teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Muay Thai Kickboxing, Boxing, Wrestling, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and Hot Yoga. You can read more about each style by going to the individual pages.

We have classes for Men and Women, Kids, Teens and Adults. Kids 3-5yrs & 6-12yrs, Teens 13-16yrs, & Adults 13yrs and up.

    We have classes for everyone.

  • WHAT IS THE COST OF MEMBERSHIPS?

Our prices start from around $45/week for Children and $50/week for Adults, though we prefer to discuss our very competitive fees and packages in person rather than over the phone or by email. We have different options available based on what you wish to train in and your preferred payment method. We also have family discounted memberships. We’ll go through it all with you when you come in.

  • WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE MEMBERSHIPS?

Your memberships include unlimited classes in the styles that you choose to train in. Also included is the use of our outdoor & upstairs training area and gym which can be used any time the Academy is open for classes. Also included is the use of our Sauna which can be used any time we’re open. We also run ice-baths at times and they’re also available for members. There is no charge for ice-baths but we do ask for donations to cover the cost of the ice if you’re able.

  • WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

For your first session, just wear something comfortable you can punch, kick, wrestle and train in. Bring a towel. Depending on which class you’re doing, if you own a Gi or boxing gloves, bring them along too. We recommend you bring a bottle of water along as well, though we do have drinks available for purchase.

  • I DON’T HAVE A GI OR GLOVES, CAN I COME ANYWAY?

Of course. In our Muay Thai boxing class, we are happy to supply gloves for beginners, but after that, once you become a member, we recommend purchasing gloves at our pro shop. It’s like using someone else’s shoes, so it’s not something you want to do permanently — though our equipment is cleaned regularly. For BJJ class, no Gi is required when you begin, but once you decide to commit to training, we recommend you purchase one from our pro shop so you’re not missing out on any of the technique.

  • I’M JUST STARTING; CAN I COME ALONG TO THE INTERMEDIATE OR SPARRING CLASS?

Sorry, but to do the intermediate, advanced, Sparring or MMA Sparring classes, you need to grade before you can attend, not only for your own safety but for the benefit of the group. Once you have a grasp of the fundamentals and grade, then you’ll be ready for the intermediate classes. If you have trained elsewhere previously, when you come in, have a chat with one of our staff or instructors about doing the intermediate, advanced, Sparring or MMA Sparring classes.

  • CAN I COME LATE TO CLASS?

Unless there is an emergency or you have spoken to one of the staff, please be prompt. Not only is it impolite, but you will miss out on vital parts of the session like the warmup or introduction. It’s also not fair on the trainers who are preparing the classes and the students who have turned up on time.

  • HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN?

Most people come 2-3 times a week. The key to progress is consistency. We recommend at least 2 times a week to see good progress though we do have members who train up to 6 times a week. We do suggest always taking at least one day off a week to recover and don’t recommend coming 7 days a week.

  • HOW MANY TIMES CAN I COME IN A DAY?

Because we have early morning classes (6am), daytime classes (10am, 11am), and afternoon/evening classes (5-9pm) members are able to come as many times as they wish in the classes they’ve chosen with their membership. You can do morning, daytime and evening classes all on the one day.

  • WHAT IS OPEN MAT?

Open Mat is an open structured class were students can come in and do their own training. They can partner up with other students who are attending to drill or roll. They can train individually on the bags, in the gym, the ring, the cage or just pop in to use the Sauna. Open mat is free to members but non-members are also welcome. We just charges $10 mat fee for any non-members who wish to attend our Open mat sessions. Our Open mats are Sunday 9-11am and Sunday 6-8pm and also on Public holidays when regular classes are not running.

  • DO YOU HAVE FIGHTERS/COMPETITION CLASSES?

Yes, we have Fighters classes for MMA and Muay Thai and for BJJ we have competition classes for those who wish to compete. When you come in for your free trial, speak to one of our coaches for more information.

  • DO YOU OFFER ONE ON ONE TRAINING?

Our coaches do offer one on one training. We don't run them through the gym as our focus is group classes. You can message us or chat to us in person about your needs. We'll then match you up with a suitable coach to help with your training needs.

Competition & Fighters Frequently Asked Questions

Kings Academy has a long history of developing martial artists, athletes and competitors across Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts.

Whether you are interested in testing your skills for the first time, preparing for your first competition or working towards higher-level performance, our coaches provide guidance and training to help you achieve your goals.

Competition training is not only about winning. It is about developing discipline, confidence, resilience and the ability to perform under pressure.

  • DOES KINGS ACADEMY OFFER COMPETITION TRAINING?

Yes. We offer dedicated Fighters and competition classes across BJJ, Muay Thai and MMA for students who want to test themselves in competition. These sessions build on the fundamentals taught in regular classes, with a focus on higher-intensity training, conditioning and strategy specific to competing.

  • DO I NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE BEFORE COMPETING?

  • HOW DO I KNOW IF IAM READY TO COMPETE?

There's no fixed timeline, readiness depends on your technical skill, consistency and mindset rather than how long you've trained. Your coaches monitor your progress closely and will have a conversation with you about competing once they feel you have the fundamentals and conditioning to perform safely and confidently.

  • DO I HAVE TO COMPETE IF I TRAIN AT KINGS ACADEMY?

No. Training and competing are entirely separate choices. Many of our students train purely for fitness, self-defence or personal growth and never compete, while others work toward competition when they're ready. Nobody is ever pressured to compete if it's not something you want to do.

  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGUAR CLASSES AND FIGHTER CLASSES?

Regular classes are designed to develop strong fundamentals and help students build their skills in a structured environment.

Fighter classes are more specifically focused on students preparing for competition. These sessions typically involve higher-intensity training, advanced techniques, conditioning, strategy and preparation specific to competition requirements.

Your coach can help determine when fighter-focused training is appropriate for your goals and experience level.

  • HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN IF I WANT TO COMPETE?

The amount of training required depends on your experience, goals, competition schedule and the martial art you are preparing for.

Many competitors increase their training frequency leading up to an event, combining technical classes, sparring, conditioning and recovery sessions.

Consistency is the foundation of improvement, and your coaches can help you develop a training approach that suits your goals.

  • WHAT COMPETITIONS DO KINGS ACADEMY STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN?

Yes. We understand that work, family commitments, illness and other responsibilities can sometimes affect your training schedule.

Where possible, students are encouraged to maintain consistency by attending alternative classes or training sessions suitable for their program.

Speak with the coaching team if you need assistance managing your training schedule.

  • CAN CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS COMPETE?

  • DOES ELVIS SINOSIC COACH COMPETITORS?

Yes. Elvis personally coaches competitors at Kings Academy and leads the Australian Defence Force Combat Sports Program, overseeing ADF combat sports athletes at a national level. His competition background, including BJJ Masters World Championship medals and representing Australia at the ADCC World Championships, gives our competitors access to genuinely elite-level coaching.

  • CAN I TRAIN WITHOUT WANTING TO COMPETE?

    Absolutely.

Competition is only one part of martial arts training. Many Kings Academy students train to improve their fitness, learn self-defence, build confidence, reduce stress or enjoy being part of a supportive martial arts community.

Whether you want to compete or simply enjoy training, our coaches will help you achieve your personal goals.

Existing Student Frequently Asked Questions

At Kings Academy, we are committed to supporting our students throughout their martial arts journey.

Whether you are continuing your training, preparing for grading, attending multiple programs or looking for information about classes, facilities and academy procedures, this section provides answers to common questions from our existing students.

  • HOW DO I CHECK THE CURRENT TIMETABLE?

  • HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN EACH WEEK?

Speak with your coach about a training frequency that matches your specific goals.

  • SHOULD I TRAIN MORE THAN ONE MARTIAL ART?

It's up to the individual. Many Kings Academy students combine different programs to develop a more complete skill set.

    For example:

    • Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling for grappling development
    • Boxing and Muay Thai for striking skills
    • MMA alongside BJJ, Boxing and Wrestling

Training across multiple disciplines can improve your overall martial arts ability, fitness and understanding of different styles.

  • HOW DO I PROGRESS THROUGH THE GRADING SYSTEM?

Each martial art at Kings Academy has its own grading structure and requirements.

Progression is based on factors including:

    • Technical knowledge
    • Skill development

    • Attitude and commitment
    • Understanding of academy values

Your coaches will provide guidance and feedback throughout your journey to help you continue improving.

  • WHAT EQUIPMENT DO NEED FOR TRAINING?

    • Rashguard and Shorts for NoGi BJJ
